During peak passenger periods, Montréal–Trudeau airport uses additional taxis whose drivers hold a Montréal taxi permit to make up for any shortages of authorized vehicles in the taxi fleet at the airport.
In order to directly reach available taxis that may be in the vicinity of the airport, the Taxi Extra service has been introduced.
Taxi Extra is a cellphone texting service that alerts registered drivers if there is a shortage of taxis to serve passengers at the airport. A second text message will be sent when the situation has returned to normal.
Vehicles that respond to the message can gain access to the taxi fleet for the standard fee.
Interested taxi and limousine drivers can register at www.yultaxi-extra.com.
What information is required? A taxi permit and a driver’s licence issued by the Bureau du taxi de Montréal are required.
